As I look through December’s diary, I am filled with many happy memories.
Memories of everyday things.
Like sitting in my desk, studying and hearing the crackling of the fireplace. Then being called from my studying by a little 6-year-old who needs to know what the picture is so that she can write the correct word under it. It’s been such a joy and a fulfillment to watch her discover the joy of reading.
Memories of many games of ping-pong played in the garage. (For me it was many games lost : ) )
Memories of evenings spent around the fire, listening to Daddy reading Death of a Saloon. (A very good book by Pablo Yoder)
Memories of going to visit Grandma and Grandpa in Two Hills where they are helping with a new church. The children enjoyed playing and taking pictures in the snow there, which was about twice as much as we had at home.

Memories made in the top of Calgary Tower on a glass floor about an inch thick. Talk about trust!
Memories of the enjoyment of not having to do schoolwork for a whole week.
Memories of a wonderful family gathering at Grandma and Grandpa’s.
Memories of sledding in Elkwater with a crowd of Uncles, Aunts, and Cousins. Memories like this are all the more special because you know that they cannot last forever.

But you can spend it only once.”
