To all people who take pictures,
I need some advice. You see, I have been saving up for a camera for about a year. My amount is getting bigger and I’m starting to think of the camera I want. The problem is, I don’t know ‘which’ one I want. Canon vs. Nikon? Very expensive vs. less expensive. If you were in my shoes, what would you get. I’ve always wanted a camera and now I don’t want to get something that I’m not happy with. I enjoy taking pictures with our family camera. My favourite things to photograph are nature (as you’ve probably noticed) and people (especially children). If you have any suggestions as to what you would get (or wish you had gotten) for your first camera, please comment here or email me. Or if you know of someone who ‘knows his way’ in photography, you are welcome to link him to my blog for some answers.
Any other photography suggestions are welcome as well. What kind of camera you wouldn’t get. The pros and cons of your current camera (or your dream one). What kind of tripod to get. What kind of lenses to buy. Which type of bag to acquire. Where to buy your camera and gear. And anything else that has to do with a camera or photography.

P.S. I am looking for a good photography course. If you know of any considerable ones, pleas let me know.

Photography is a wonderful hobby! Congrats on wanting to dive in further. You haven’t mentioned your budget for a camera, so I thought I would make a couple suggestions based on my experience. You can’t go wrong with either Canon or Nikon, especially as a novice. I shoot Canon. I am assuming you want to purchase a DSLR? That’s your best route if you’re getting serious about photography. I bought a Canon Rebel T2i as my first DSLR about 2.5 years ago, and I’m still using it today. I highly recommend the Rebel line as a way to get started. You can find really good deals online on the T4i right now, and that will be plenty of camera for you for quite some time. My best advice, invest in high quality lenses first and foremost. Cameras become outdated pretty quickly, but a fine lens will last you 10 years and produce great results! If you want to just get your feet wet and save money, try KEH.com for used equipment that has been inspected and graded. Great way to go. In general I buy most of my gear from Amazon or B&H photo. And read the product reviews there before you buy. Good luck!
Hi Rick,
Although I don’t know you, I am glad for the advice you have offered. I am glad to get advice from a person with experience. I also posted this post as an aid to others in choosing a camera, so thanks for your input.

P.S. You guessed right, I am looking at DSLR’s.
Hi Yesenia,
I’ll email you some links to webpages that I found very helpful for photography tips and guidelines. Also a link to Amazon.com for a very cheap but big camera kit that you might like.
