Courtship Facts by a ‘Lonely’ Girl

I’m lonely today. Ironically, I’m not in the office, working by myself, but I’m in the living room with my family working within my hearing. The thing is, once you have someone special, loneliness gets a different meaning. Especially after a weekend like this past one. I’m spoiled! I was with him on Friday because of a homeschooler’s Christmas banquet. On Saturday, we were together for over 5 hours because of our youth Christmas banquet. Sunday, we practiced for our youth Christmas program; went skating; had supper with my family; went to Old Folks’ Home Singing; and played volleyball with the youth. Monday evening, we were at a meeting together but only got to talk for a few minutes. What a teaser! On our way there, my cousins and I found out that a new couple had started courting/dating. That makes 4 couples in our youth group after we started, which is just over 3 months ago. A lot of memories flooded my mind that evening. The slight awkwardness. The butterflies. The uncontainable smiles. The moments when your eyes meet and you can’t look away.

I’m so glad that so many of those feelings don’t go away. True, there are times when they aren’t as strong but the butterflies still haven’t gone away. I recently discovered Pinterest (which you can blame for my not posting here) and some of the quotes I found, I thought I would share with you here. They put some things into words so much better.

“Always getting a little nervous before seeing him, just like the first time.” (To be honest, I sometimes stay in the car a few seconds longer to enjoy it a little longer.)

“Counting down the days (and sometimes even the hours) until you see each other again.”

“The feeling you get when you finally get to see him again.”

“Time without him goes so slow and time with him flies by.”

“Being addicted to the way you feel when you think about him.”

“Seeing each other for 3 seconds and the day is made!”

“Being jealous of his sisters because they get to be with him every day.” (And being surprised at how long they bugged him with me before he actually liked me.)

“the ‘remember when’s'”

(They are so much fun! Like talking about the wheelbarrow game where I ended up in his wheelbarrow. He was so scared of dumping me. And I ended up making him get the obstacles stuck on his feet. Afterwards, I didn’t know what to think and he was sure we were ‘meant to be’.)

“Being each other’s favorite distraction”

“Catching yourself smiling for no reason and realizing that it’s because you’re thinking about him.”

“When he does things just to make you happy.”

“How good he looks dressed up.”

“How long it takes to say ‘Bye’.”

“He encourages you to take care of yourself.” (In fact, he’s actually told my cousins to drive carefully when I go home with them.)

“Ever since we met, I’ve known that we were special. That the way we talk and laugh around each other is different than everybody else. And I think most people search their whole lives to find what we’ve already found.”

“Once in awhile, right in the middle of an ordinary life, love gives us a fairy tale.”

And I truly wonder why God was so good to me. He gave me more than I asked for and He’s writing a more beautiful love story than I ever imagined. Another quote: “It’s crazy to think how he once was a stranger and now he’s one of, if not the, most important people in your life.”

On Saturday, after our Christmas banquet, Josh and Aggie asked me to take pictures of them. It was very cold and dark already but we went outside. Jon held their jackets while I snapped and afterward, he purposely gave them each others jackets ;-). I’m so blessed to have a cousin courting one of my best friends. She took some pictures of us too and, even though Jon doesn’t think they are the best, I’ll share one with you.
