Bianca wanted to do this post but she wanted me to read over it before pressing ‘Publish’.

I gladly did so but since I didn’t have time right then, the draft got deleted. She sweetly wrote it all over and this time I was going to do it. You guessed it, it was deleted again. Now after a fruitless search everywhere and a lesson learned in keeping promises, I’m writing the post.

This being our third time in three weeks going to Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park, I doubt that a description is necessary. However, the reason of our going does need a description. Our friends, the Klassens from Manitoba, who have come to visit us numerous times over the past few years, came again.

Last time they were here, we took them to Writing-On-Stone and now they decided they wanted to go there again. They invited us to join them, and so we did.

Their second-oldest daughter, Larissa, is around the same age as Bianca and Imelda and they thoroughly enjoyed taking pictures together. Here is a sampling:

Sisters

(May I use this picture to help reveal the fact that these two girls are not only sisters biologically?  They have become Daughters of the King of kings and are thus Sisters in Christ! Praise Him!)

Rudolf Nancy {Family Portraits}

My Aunt Nancy asked me to take family pictures of them.

Janice and Nacho’s youngest son, Micah, was celebrating his 8th Birthday and they had invited the whole family to Writing-On-Stone Provincial Park. This was the occasion and since it’s such a beautiful park, she took the opportunity.

I can assure you that a lot of prayer went into this shoot. Of course, I see some mistakes that I made because I look at it through the critical eye of the photographer but overall, I think it went well. And Tante Nancy seems to be happy.

Here they are, the happy little family.

IMG_2354

I love Jaden’s little smirk on this picture.

IMG_2357IMG_2363IMG_2373IMG_2390

Having Skittles almost sitting on my head was about the only way to get Ciandra to look at the camera. 🙂

IMG_2397IMG_2417IMG_2424

This was about the only shot that Jaden was happy about.IMG_2429

The elegant ladies. (I LOVE the colours Tante Nancy chose.)

I have to include some pictures of Micah’s birthday party since that is why we came to the park in first place.

IMG_1424

Our local cake decorator did a wonderful job on this cake!

IMG_2449

Happy Birthday Miracle Boy!

More pictures taken the same day.

IMG_2507

These little ladies feel quite honoured when Bianca takes the time to take pictures of them and may I add that she loves them as her models?

IMG_2513 IMG_2569

Danielle, I love your smile!

So much for now, check back soon for another post by Bianca about our third trip to Writing Stone. (It seems that we almost lived there for a while.)

Mama set this up and delegated the photography to her daughters.

This cake was sooooo delicious!

IMG_1165

But the owner of it is even more special. Happy Birthday Grandpa!

This picture is worth more than 1000 words. Long story shortened, we had wanted a dog for over a year and been disappointed so many times already. Finally Edgar found a breeder that he wanted to get a Yorkshire Terrier from. Since getting a dog these days is actually adoption, she interviewed him and gave him quite a bit of hope that he would get it. At the last minute, however, she gave it to another family. Not again! Five or six days later, she called and said that she had a puppy available! What a surprise! You should have heard the exclamations and the jumping up and down! Another couple had bought this adorable puppy but decided that they didn’t want him after all. God is Faithful!

IMG_1193

Bianca and I had a lot of fun doing a spur-of-the-moment photo shoot.

IMG_1195 IMG_1218 IMG_1225 IMG_1230

I like this shot but can I blame the paleness on the camera? More to learn I guess.

IMG_1243

At this rate, I could update my profile picture every week!

IMG_1260 IMG_1264

Love the details!

Family Reunion (updated with more pictures)

Hi everyone, I don’t know if I promised you a post from our family reunion but we had such a good time and I took quite a few pictures so… (And besides if I were you, I would want a post from it. 🙂 ) IMG_9294

A winding staircase. (We won’t mention the rickety-ness) 🙂

Love the accent this red door gives.

Can you find the nest of ospreys in the picture?

IMG_9193

Not very obvious (except by the amount of people) but this is Old Faithful. We got there just in time to see it.

IMG_9198

My favourite waterfall picture. (and you can’t guess why.) 🙂

IMG_9195

Notice the difference?

Where to Start?

Where do I start?

After not posting for over a month, I hardly know where to start.

I could tell you about fishing in Foremost. Bianca took a lot of beautiful pictures there but only a few of fish, since we only caught three that evening. I’ll share some with you now…

IMG_8742

IMG_8764

IMG_8743

Or I could tell you about our trip to NM for a family reunion. That is almost enough for a blog post or two but I’ll start anyway.

Camping on the way there was a wonderful way to have family time and enjoy nature at the same time. The first night we slept in Great Falls KOA. We got a nice tenting site on the edge of the campground and had an enjoyable time there. Even though we were on the edge of the campground we got to experience some wildlife there. First it was a rattlesnake that showed up while we were at the water park. Then it was two raccoons that helped themselves to our crackers during the night. (We had to learn to camp in bear country yet.)IMG_9034

Typical little boy. I love the shot!

IMG_9033

Imelda’s shot. It’s one of my absolute favourites.

IMG_8999

IMG_8959

This slide was lots of fun even for ‘big’ girls. 😉

The next day, we headed through some mountains to Yellowstone National Park.

IMG_9067

Here we spent two nights camping and three days enjoying the revelation of God’s creativity and beauty.

IMG_9071

You don’t even need a slow shutter speed to get the ‘whipped cream effect’ here. The hot springs were quite interesting and they didn’t even smell bad.

Stepping stones.

IMG_9097

IMG_9084

I thoroughly enjoyed taking pictures of waterfalls. Experimenting with shutter speeds was quite a thriller.

IMG_9075

Notice the aforementioned ‘whipped cream effect’? (I didn’t use the recommended tripod which accounts for the blurriness in the rest of the photo.)

IMG_9077

IMG_9120

One of the highlights of our time in Yellowstone. We spotted a grizzly bear but it was quite far away and only a few of us spotted it.

Check back soon for more pictures from Yellowstone!

Thanks for Praying!

Although VBS is not over yet, it has exceeded my expectations. (In a good way, of course 🙂 ) Thank you all for your prayers! It has been a stretching week but I believe we had the most well behaved class. Of course, it being the smallest class made a difference, but still… Here’s a couple of pictures from our week thus far:
