Newness

Newness.

A New Year.

A New Blog.

New Journals.

New Bible Reading Plans.

New Resolutions.

So many new things at the beginning of a New Year.

But how are we going to use them.

Are we going to use the time in the New Year as He would have us use it?

Are we going to use the new blogs and journals to record His Wondrous Works?

Are our resolutions ones that would glorify Him?

We got up New Year’s morning to a new world.

It was the perfect New Year’s gift.

Snow!

Even though we did have snow already, this morning all the dirty, old snow was covered.

Dirty?

Old?

These things in a brand new year?

How about the Uninteresting or the Mundane?

I know we don’t want to face it, but it’s true.

The newness will wear off, the interest will wane.

Things will slowly get old and dirty.

(Many of you have experienced this already)

And then what?

Will we give up and say,

“It’s just too hard”?

No! We are more than Conquerers through Him that Loves us.

We can triumph over those things that beset us.

We can remain encouraged even when we fail our resolutions

when things just don’t ‘turn out’.

We can be joyful in the midst of trials.

In fact, we must be. He commands it.

In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God.

That’s what He says, in everything.

Does it sound impossible?

In fact, with human power it is.

Totally.

Lean on God’s Power to do His will,

to keep to the Point,

to…

Shut out every other consideration and keep yourself before God for this thing only –

My Utmost for His Highest.

to be…

…determined to be absolutely and entirely for Him and for Him alone.

(quoted from My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers. January 1 entry)

Excited about His plans for 2013,

Yesenia Unger

  1. Nicely put, Yesenia. so often we forget the newness because it gets old. But if we take it back to our Saviour he will always be able to make it new again. Happy New Year from, Elizabeth
